Indiana Falconers—
Please note that as of 8-07-2009, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Fish & Wildlife has provided the IFA with the following important information regarding the early migratory bird seasons and bag limits for licensed falconers. This information will no longer be included in the DNR's printed migratory bird publications for hunters. Therefore, IFA has been informed that all licensed falconers will receive a letter from the DNR with the season dates and bag limits for the early migratory bird seasons this fall. Once the late seasons are set, the DNR will inform licensed falconers of those dates and bag limits. As a courtesy to the IFA membership, and at the request of the DNR, we are providing below the information available at this time.
Woodcock: Sept. 20 - Oct. 14, 2009 and Nov. 29, 2009 - Jan. 4, 2010; Daily Bag Limit: 3*, Possession Limit: 6
Mourning Dove: Oct. 19 - Nov. 5, 2009 and Jan. 1 - Jan. 19, 2010; Daily Bag Limit: 3*, Possession Limit: 6
Ducks (all species), Coots, Merganser: Sept. 27 - 30, 2009 (North Zone only); Daily Bag Limit: 3*, Possession Limit: 6
*The daily bag limit of 3 is in aggregate, meaning any combination of woodcock, mourning doves, ducks, coots and mergansers are included in the limit. The possession limit is also in aggregate.
The north zone is part of Indiana north of a line extending east from the Illinois border along State Road 18 to U.S. 31; north along U.S. 31 to U.S. 24; east on U.S. 24 to Huntington; and southeast on U.S. 224 to the Ohio border.
